Amy Chiao’s design practices revolve around the visceral, symbolic material notion of visual storytelling. Utilizing trend research and communication design strategies, her process investigates technological enhanced cultural phenomenas & psychological behaviors in relation to consumer goods & experiences.


Chiao lives and works in Los Angeles designs for product, narrative media, and haptic environments.

She is a recent graduate from California Instiute of the Arts for Masters of Fine Arts in Scene Design with a Integrated Media concentration.

Her work experience includes commercial materials design for NIKE in the Young Athletes silo. In 2014, Chiao was a MIT Open Style Lab Fellow collaborating with engineers and occupational therapists on accessibility clothing accessories. She was awarded Most Innovative Textile for FABRICUT’s Traditional Home Competition in 2013.
